This is the "stained glass decoration" that I mentioned in yesterday's post, the one that Baby Star loves to gaze at. We picked it up during a local blueberry festival last Summer, from the booth of a very skilled lady who was selling all kinds of beautiful color-filled pieces. I was immediately attracted to this one in particular when I saw that it had an adorable bee charm that just happens to match a pair of earrings that I got before I got pregnant.
Months later, our morning routine currently includes picking Star up from her crib, walking over to her window, opening her blinds, and spinning the honeycomb until my arm gets tired. Star has recently started to reach up at it so for the last few days I have also been lifting her up so that she can make it swing on her own. She gets so excited that she buries her face into my shoulder as she squeals, then jerks around to look up at me and jabber, as if to say, "Mama, do you see that??"
The charming honeycomb piece is also a symbol of a dream I have to keep bees some day, teaching my daughter the importance of working hard to accomplish goals, balancing self-sufficiency with asking for help when we need it, and taking care of Mother Earth, as we give the pollinators a safe space to perform their pollinating duties.
