When my area got its first snow of the season, I was glued to my back window hoping that I would be able to snap photos of local birds hopping around the tree. The gasp I gasped when I saw not one but two vibrant, fluffy blue jays indicated that I was possibly a little bit excited. Sadly, I couldn't venture into my backyard without most likely scaring off the birds, so I settled for trying to get shots from inside the house. These photos are not as clear or crisp as I would like them to be, but they represent a beautiful winter morning - a day in January that finally actually felt like the season we're supposed to be in - time playing with my adorable daughter as we ate breakfast and waited for birds to fly in, the fruit of patience, and proof that getting a zoom lens as an early Christmas present to myself was entirely worth it. It also served as a reminder that I needed to replace the suet cake so that the next time they visited they would have something fresh to eat.
