Weekend

03 MARCH, 2025
This past weekend was one of the most enjoyable & fulfilling ones I have had all Winter, so I wanted to document that outside of just writing in my journal. While not everything is or can be pictured, and some things will only ever be treasured in my memory, these four items represent those two days.
Book - Just after the new year, I set a goal to read 12 banned books in 2025. I started with The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo and that has been a very eye-opening, relatable, and straight-up bad-ass read. This weekend especially, I didn't want to put this book down. I haven't finished it yet, though I am close, but I'm already looking forward to picking up my next choice: another book by Acevedo.
Knit Project - About two years ago, I started knitting my first shawl. I frogged it about five times before realizing it just wasn't speaking to me and I finally gave myself permission to switch to a completely different pattern. So I recently picked out a new one (En Voyage by Espace Tricot), cast on, and even got through 7 whole rows in one sitting. It's a lovely hunter green - which was difficult to capture in the photo with minimal light at the end of the day - and I'm so excited to (hopefully) wear it next Winter!
Crocheted Mary Janes - These little shoes are my favorite part of this flat lay. A couple of months ago, I decided that I was going to crochet my daughter a brand-new outfit for her first birthday. I picked out a dress pattern and then built on that by adding Mary Janes, a star-shaped purse, and a tiny hair scrunchie. The first dress I started ended up being too small for her - she's growing SO fast lately - so I frogged that and made a bigger size. Once I finished the dress, everything else came along quite quickly, and I just finished the last pieces (shoes) on Saturday and will be photographing the whole set in the next couple of days before I wrap it all up for her to open. I will be doing a whole post about the finished products and the pattern used as soon as I take the photos, so look for that in the coming days. I'm proud of myself for being disciplined and finishing the entire project before the deadline that I set for myself, and I just know I'm going to cry when I see little Star in her new clothes as we celebrate an entire year of having her earthside.
Tarot Deck - For months now, every Sunday has included drawing a card for the week ahead and making a short video of it for my social media accounts. It's a simple and sweet part of the weekends that I always look forward to, and I hope that others find inspiration through.
